Vitamin B3 (Niacin)

What are the health benefits?

Vitamin B3 increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol or the "good" cholesterol that helps remove low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or the "bad" cholesterol from your bloodstream. High levels of LDL cholesterol can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke, while high levels of HDL cholesterol reduce the risk by absorbing the cholesterol and carrying it to the liver, from where it is flushed out of the body.

Which are the food sources?

Red meat, fish, poultry, brown rice, nuts, seeds, legumes, bananas, whole grain flours like wheat and barley, green peas and avocados.
